Jack, The Havanese ~ Torn Cranial Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Surgery

My dog, Jack loves sports like chasing a ball and running an agility course. These are the activities that light up his life! I've rarely seen him without that orange ball in his mouth, his eyes scanning the yard for a pitcher. In fact, we refer to him as a dog in search of a game!

Then one day, snap! His knee just blew out while he was cutting a corner to block his competitor from the ball. That left rear knee flew off the ground so fast even Jack was startled. He tried using it, snapped it up again and proceeded to walk on 3 legs.

Our wonderful veterinarian, Jay Taylor DVM of the Outer Banks Veterinary Hospital , referred us to a highly regarded orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Christopher Dassler at the Bay Area Veterinary Surgery in Yorktown, VA. What an amazing experience this has been for Jack and his family. Dr. Dassler worked his surgical magic, creating a new framework to stabilized Jack's knee.

Now there is a titanium plate in Jack's knee, a sadly shaved leg hanging out, 8 weeks of kennel rest and NO BALL PLAYING. After the physical therapy and rest, Jack has a good chance he will be able to resume his activities with his ball and agility training.

The medical care at the Bay Area Veterinary Surgery was perfect, everyone treated Jack with loving care while awaiting his surgery, keeping him calm and happy. His post-operative care was an overnight stay at the Peninsula Emergency Clinic next door to Dr. Dassler's surgery. Jack received excellent care here as well.

THIS WAS A 5 STAR EXPERIENCE!

We highly recommend Dr. Christopher L. Dassler DVM, MA DACVS and the Peninsula Emergency Clinic.
